Ontario Police Cracking Down on Distracted Drivers

April might be National Distracted Driving Awareness Month throughout the country, but Canadian law enforcement officials are cracking down on cellphone usage at the wheel as well.  Yesterday, the Ontario Provincial Police began a campaign that seeks to root out those persons who insist on texting or talking on a cellphone while driving.  They’re also asking citizens to get involved with the educational aspect of the campaign by posting stories to Facebook about their own experiences with distracted driving.  A Chief Superintendent explains that 83 people were killed in the area due to distraction last year, a number that surpasses the number of fatalities stemming from intoxication.  Drivers are also being warned not to engage in other distracting habits.
