Florida Senate Unanimously Approves Texting and Driving Ban

Florida has inched one step closer to a ban on texting and driving now that the State Senate has passed the measure that would outlaw the practice.  The bill was heard this morning, and it receive unanimous support in the legislative body.  Now, the proposed law will move to the House.  If passed there, all that remains is for the bill to secure the signature of the Governor.  The bill as it stands would designate texting at the wheel as a secondary offense, and thus an individual couldn’t be pulled over unless they commit some other illegal act.  The sponsor of the bill explains that the measure enjoys widespread support among Floridians.
