Anti-Distraction Efforts in Full Force in Santa Barbara County

Posted on April 11, 2013

The Sheriff’s Department of Santa Barbara County is warning drivers to remove distracted driving from their lives, especially now that spring break in the area has drawn to a close and kids head back to school.  Drivers are being asked to use particular caution when navigating through school zones.  Santa Barbara County, like all other municipalities in California, is seeing increased enforcement of distracted driving laws all through April.  In the Solvang area, 31 drivers were cited for using their cellphones yesterday alone, with all but ten of those coming from within Solvang city limits.  In addition to issuing citations for texters and persons who talk on their cellphones, police have also been on the lookout for those who allow some other type of distraction to remove their focus from the road.
