698 Dry-Freight Semi Trailers Recalled Over Control Loss Threat

Posted on March 18, 2013

Great Dane Trailers has announced the recall of Dry-Freight Semi Trailers of the 2011 model year because the I-Beam bogie frame’s bottom welds may not have been installed the right way.  698 trailers could be affected by the defect, which can lead the welds to crack and fail.  This may cause the axle and hanger to become disengaged from the bogie frame.  The driver can then lose control of the vehicle, which would necessarily pose a heightened crash hazard.  Not only is there no word on when the recall is slated to begin, but as of yet, there has also been no indication given as to what the recall will consist of.
