Consumer Reports Renews Warnings About Laundry Detergent Pods

Posted on

Consumer Reports continues in its self-appointed quest to get the public to take more seriously the purported threat posed by laundry detergent pods.  The organization has become concerned about a surge in the number of incidents in which a young child has ingested one of these items.  This tends to happen because the child confuses the small, brightly colored pod with a piece of candy.  Over slightly more than a year, 7,700 incident reports have been made to poison control centers across the country.  Consumers Union, a branch of Consumer Reports, thus wants to use this week’s classification as National Poison Prevention Week to call upon parents and guardians to keep the pods out of a child’s grasp.  They’re also calling upon manufacturers to take more proactive steps in preventing an injury.
