Undeclared Sulfites Lead to Recall of Grassplot Ginger Slices

Posted on February 27, 2013

The presence of sulfites without the labels declaring as much has led to the recall of Grassplot Ginger Slices from the Maspeth, New York-based Lion Pavilion.  Available across the country, this product came in a 3.5 ounce uncoded plastic bottle.  The state’s Department of Agriculture was able to deduce the presence of sulfites thanks to testing.  Persons with asthma or who are otherwise sensitive to this substance would be in danger of suffering a severe reaction, such as anaphylactic shock.  No such occurrences have been reported at this time, but consumers are being asked to refrain from consumption.  Instead, the items can be brought back for a refund.
