Infant Warmer Component Recalled By GE Over Possible Health Risk

Posted on February 6, 2013

A component that could be found within Panda and Giraffe infant warmers is being recalled by GE Healthcare.  The recall pertains to the field upgrade kit for resuscitation systems with blender.  Each of the affected upgrade kits would have been produced between April 2008 and September of last year.  Owners began receiving notices as early as the middle of October, and GE estimates that 89% of customer sites have received the necessary inspection and/or repairs.  The recall was initiated because a reversal of the air wall and oxygen inlet fittings could have occurred.  This means that the air/oxygen mixer concentrations could be switched, compromising the safety of the infant patient.  Thankfully, no injuries have been reported at this time.  GE can be contacted by those seeking more information.
