Florida Agency Puts Forward Designated Texter Campaign

Florida is in the process of seeking to approve a measure that would ban texting and driving at the wheel, but in the meantime, various organizations are doing their part to raise awareness about this important issue.  Today, the Designated Texter campaign was rolled out by the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority.  The agency has set up a page on its website tasking concerned citizens with signing a pledge stating that they’ll never text and drive.  The pledge also states that a designated texter will be set up whenever someone needs to send such a message.  The concept is being popularized on the heels of widespread success over the promotion of the concept of a designated driver for when a group of people know they’ll be out drinking.
