Crash Hazard Leads Prevost to Recall 6,120 Coaches

Posted on February 28, 2013

H3-45 VIP, H3-45, H3-40, and H3-41 coaches of the 1993 through 2013 model years are being recalled by Prevost because of a potential control loss issue.  On about 6,120 coaches, the pitman arm can apparently be contacted when the collar retaining bolt gets torqued too high in a certain drag link collar position.  This could lead to a fracture of the turnbuckle.  If that occurrence happens while the vehicle is in transit, the coach would become unstable and the driver would potentially be unable to maintain control.  A crash hazard is thus posed.  Although there has been no indication of when we can expect the recall to start, owners will hear from Prevost once it does.  An inspection service will be conducted by dealers, and if the issue is discovered, free repairs will be conducted.
