Florida Texters Could Soon Face Vehicular Homicide Charges

Posted on

Florida legislators are in the process of figuring out whether or not the time is ripe to approve a ban on texting at the wheel.  But in addition to that potential measure, two other lawmakers, a Senator and a State Representative, want to make sure that people understand that there will be repercussions should an individual’s texting habit lead to the death of another on the road.  If passed, the bill would enable officials to charge offenders with vehicular homicide.  That means that the texter could find themselves spending as much as three decades in jail.  They would also potentially be forced to pay a fine of $10,000.
