South Dakota State Senator Throws Support Behind Texting Ban

Posted on January 11, 2013

A South Dakota State Senator out of Rapid City is getting vocal about the need for a texting while driving ban to be put in place throughout the entire state.  He believes that public opinion on the matter has swayed to the point where a bill would hopefully sail to passage, even if a few remaining holdouts decide not to vote in favor of the bill.  Although no one is kidding themselves that enforcement would be easy, this particular senator believes that the mere presence of a law will cause a minimum of 80% of drivers to stop texting at the wheel.  The rest, he says, will be rooted out.  He points to the fact that we all see texting drivers in the modern world, and thus enforcement would be possible even if it’s not easy.
