Potential Metal Mesh Presence Leads to Annie’s Frozen Pizza Recall

Posted on January 24, 2013

Annie’s Inc., a company based in Berkeley, is recalling numerous Rising Crust Frozen Pizza items because there’s a risk that pieces of metal mesh could be found within the item.  Each affected version of the pizza will have a Best By date between January 9 and September 14 of this year.  Various organic and non-organic flavors are affected.  A third party provider of dough and flour reportedly experienced some type of equipment failure which led to the issue, and although metal has yet to be found in an Annie’s product, there’s a concern that the pieces would be small enough to evade the detection of the company’s various quality control measures.  A refund will be issued to all those persons who bring the pizza back to the store.
