Aerotech 240 Buses Recalled By Eldorado National Over Fire Threat

Posted on January 17, 2013

Aerotech 240 buses of the 2012 model year are being recalled by Eldorado National because of an issue with the wheelchair lift onboard.  21 buses produced from this past May through October are being recalled, and each came with a Ricon wheelchair lift whose armored pendant cable was installed improperly.  This cable doesn’t have a cover and can make contact with the lift itself.  If it touches a certain power lug, a short circuit could result, and this short circuit could lead a fire to break out and endanger persons onboard.  A free cover kit (and instructions on how to put on said cover) will be provided to affected owners by Ricon, but there’s no word on when consumers can expect to hear from the company.
