Undeclared Allergen Risk Causes Boba Direct to Recall Flavored Powders

Posted on January 16, 2013

Almond, Blueberry, Strawberry, Watermelon, and other flavored powders are being recalled by Boba Direct because of the potential threat posed to people who are allergic to milk.  The presence of this allergen is not distinctly disclosed by the label.  Although the label does list the presence of lactose and sodium caseinate, it does not explain that these ingredients are derived from milk.  The item was shipped to various smoothie outfits and cafes across the country between December 26 and January 4.  No one has reported experiencing an allergic reaction yet, but persons concerned about such are being asked to bring it back to obtain a refund.
