Flu Treatment Product Shortages Possible, But Very Limited

Posted on January 16, 2013

The Food and Drug Administration Commissioner is warning consumers of potential shortages of preventative flu shots and treatments like Tamiflu which aim to cut down on flu symptoms and aid recovery.  However, such shortages have thus far been reported only at the local level, and the FDA is doing what it can to get Tamiflu and shots to those areas that need them the most.  The organization is working with the producer of Tamiflu to make the drug available.  People in the market for a flu shot who have as yet been unable to find a source are encouraged to visit the Flu Vaccine Finder resource at flu.gov.  By simply typing in one’s zip code, the user can pull up a list of places in the vicinity that have the shot in stock.
