Cellphone Driving Ban Enforcement Fruitful for Nevada Highway Patrol

The state of Nevada has a ban on cellphone usage at the wheel in place, and the Nevada Highway Patrol has issued a number of citations for the offense throughout 2012.  Almost 12,000 tickets were reportedly issued to persons who texted or talked on their phone while driving.  The money from those tickets goes to the county where the violator was caught, and the total across all counties could reach as high as a million dollars or more.  One trooper detailed how even being stopped at a traffic light does meant it’s permissible to use one’s phone.  He also says that those who are dead set on using their phones at the wheel need to invest in a hands-free device.
