Injury Hazard Prompts BMW to Recall 2,385 S 1000 RR Motorcycles

Posted on December 24, 2012

S 1000 RR Motorcycles of the 2012 and 2013 model years are being recalled by BMW.  2,385 motorcycles in total are affected by the recall, which was initiated once it was discovered that loosening of the side-stand attachment bolts could occur.  This may lead to the stand being dislodged from the motorcycle, causing the unit to fall over.  The motorcyclist would thus be in danger of sustaining an injury.  In January, the recall should start, at which point owners will hear from BMW.  They’ll then be able to bring the motorcycles in to a dealer to receive free cleaning and replacement of affected components.
