33,700 Can-Am Spyders Recalled by Bombardier Over Fire Threat

Posted on December 20, 2012

Bombardier Recreational Products has announced the recall of Can-Am Spyder RS, RT, and GS automobiles of the 2008 through 2012 model years.  A total of 33,700 vehicles could suffer from a defect in which the fuel cap doesn’t fit properly.  This issue prevents the proper sealing of the area, which could allow vapors to emanate from the filler neck of the fuel tank.  Should an ignition source be in the vicinity, this could lead to a fire situation and a potential injury or property damage.  In January, the recall should begin, at which point Bombardier will start sending new, properly fitted fuel caps to affected owners at no charge.
