Local Newspaper in Mitchell Hopes That South Dakota Texting Ban Passes

With the dangers of texting and driving becoming more evident than ever before, it’s not surprising to hear that many states are exploring potential bans on the habit.  Recently, the mayor of Mitchell, South Dakota said that his city would wait until state lawmakers ruled on the issue in the upcoming legislative session before making a decision at the local level.  Now, a local newspaper, the Daily Republic, has seconded that motion.  They then go on to state that state lawmakers should pass a ban on texting at the wheel despite difficulties with enforcement, as such a move will end up being on the right side of history.
