South Dakota is experiencing somewhat of an anti-texting while driving Renaissance. Four cities throughout the state have enacted a measure that bans the practice behind the wheel, and the matter is expected to be taken up at the state level during the 2013 legislative session. It’s this reason that the city of Mitchell is not pursuing a ban on the dangerous habit at this moment in time. The Mayor, a proponent of a texting and driving ban, says that he and in turn the city are waiting to see what state lawmakers decide. Should a ban not be taken up, Mitchell might then revisit the matter.
