Lakewood, Ohio Could Pass Stricter Texting Ban in January
The City Council of Lakewood, Ohio will soon meet to consider whether or not the current texting and driving ban on the books should be strengthened. At the moment, enforcement of the law is difficult because an offense is secondary and an officer must distinctly prove that the individual is texting. In January, though, a new law could be passed which would allow an officer to pull over a driver without first witnessing some other dangerous driving offense. Right now, persons under the age of 18 aren’t allowed to drive while using their cellphones, and the new law to be considered in a month would not alter that section of the law.
