Fuel Leak Risk Prompts Daimler to Recall 1,600 Sterling 360 Trucks

Posted on December 19, 2012

Sterling 360 trucks of the 2007 model year are being recalled by Daimler Trucks North America.  Just over 1,600 trucks are affected by a potential issue in which a manufacturing error could lead to cracking of the fuel lines.  There’s also a possibility that inadequate tightening may not have taken place in the fuel pipe flare nuts.  Either one of these conditions could lead fuel to leak from the vehicle, which could pose a fire risk should some type of ignition source be present.  The recall is likely to start on February 5.  Owners will hear from Daimler, at which point they’ll be able to receive the necessary inspection and repairs at no cost from a dealer.
