Rollaway Threat Prompts Honda to Recall Pilot, Odyssey, and Acura MDX

Posted on December 12, 2012

A rollaway threat has prompted Honda to recall 870,000 Pilot, Odyssey, and Acura MDX vehicles of the 2003 through 2006 model years.  43 people previously filed a complaint in regards to these vehicles, prompting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to look into the matter.  One individual reported sustaining a fibula fracture when they sought to stop the runaway vehicle, while others said that the vehicle only came to a halt after crashing into various objects.  The issue reportedly stems from the fact that wear can accumulate in the ignition interlock, and thus the key could potentially be removed even if the automobiles aren’t parked.
