NHTSA Grant Allows CHP to Promote Motorcycle Safety

Posted on November 15, 2012

Motorcycle safety has become a top priority for the California Highway Patrol.  Thanks to a grant from the NHTSA and the California Office of Traffic Safety, the organization will combine enforcement and education in order to protect motorcyclists over the next year.  The ongoing campaign is set to be carried out up until the end of September of 2013, and during that time, traffic violations will be strictly enforced and all drivers will be educated as to the importance of sharing the road.  This latter effort will involve a combination of PSAs, public safety events, and community outreach through the use of social media.  Motorcycle crashes have risen recently, and the CHP wants that uptick to end.
