Hammonton, New Jersey Police Put Focus on Pedestrian Safety

Posted on November 28, 2012

Tomorrow, police officers in Hammonton, New Jersey will conduct an enforcement and education effort that aims to promote pedestrian safety in the area.  Police will target pedestrians and motorists alike in a bid to make sure that crosswalks aren’t plagued by injurious or deadly collisions.  The New Jersey Division of Highway Safety provided the Pedestrian Safety Grant that made this possible.  At the same time, tips are being offered to interested parties.  Pedestrians are advised to only used marked crosswalks if  possible, to promote visibility through reflective clothing, and to stay alert, while drivers are being asked to yield to crossing pedestrians and to be on the lookout for people on foot when initiating a right turn when the light is red.
