Communication Problems Persist in Wake of Sandy

Posted on November 2, 2012

Getting the power back on in the wake of Hurricane Sandy has become a serious issue throughout those areas that were hit the worst.  Further compromising matters was the fact that some 911 operations also had their electricity knocked out.  As of now, that’s no longer an issue, but safety concerns remain as officials try to get things back online across the board.  For cell operations and other communication hubs, the distribution of fuel by way of generators has become critical, and all hands are on deck to make sure this fuel is indeed available.  To promote continued service, some cell companies were letting consumers use generators to charge their phones and tablets, and other temporary pods were being used to further encourage service in affected areas.
