A survey we brought you news of recently shows that Californians understand the distinct danger posed to safety when a driver is distracted. In fact, cellphone talking and texting were found to be the biggest perceived hazards among respondents. It’s because of this threat that the California Highway Patrol is taking large steps in trying to crack down on distraction and other recklessness. One officer points to a lack of understanding of the current law, a violation of which can lead a person to incur a ticket worth $159. He says that such citations are necessary to educate drivers about the danger posed by texting and other cellphone usage habits.
