The federal Transportation Department recently held a contest designed to get teenagers to contribute icons promoting an end to texting while driving that could be shared on various social media outlets. Now, the Distracted Driving Design Challenge has declared a winner. A 14 year old Florida girl took home the top prize for her design which displays the words “Text & Wreck” over an image of two vehicles colliding with one another. The DOT plans to use the icon as part of ongoing campaigns which attempt to raise the awareness of the dangers of being distracted behind the wheel. The winning entry was unveiled, appropriately enough, at the Distracted Driving Summit held in Tampa this week.
