Saskatchewan Construction Zone Speeders Now Face Steep Fines

Posted on November 1, 2012

Beginning today, anyone who drives above the speed limit mandated in construction zones throughout the Canadian province of Saskatchewan could find themselves on the receiving end of a steep citation.  A new law increased such fines to $210 at the minimum, but if the driver is going faster than 90 kilometers an hour, up to $6 is tacked on for each kilometer.  Signs will be placed along the road alerting motorists to the new rules.  Rumble strips and other devices will also be used to slow drivers down.  It’s all part of an effort that began last September after the tragic death of a teenager in a construction zone.
