Quincy, Massachusetts Pedestrian Safety Efforts Ineffective Thus Far

In Quincy, Massachusetts, officials’ attempt to curb pedestrian injuries and fatalities appear not to have had an effect as of yet.  Even though April saw the launch of a pedestrian safety initiative involving crosswalk painting, traffic adjustment, and education, the city has actually seen a rise in pedestrian accidents from two years ago, from 49 in 2010 to 65 this year.  And the year isn’t even over.  Police officials blame pedestrians who don’t adhere to the necessary laws and safety procedures.
