No Citations Issued to Sioux Falls Drivers Since Texting Ban Enacted

Posted on October 10, 2012

Police in Sioux Falls, South Dakota have stated that, in the first week since the city’s texting while driving ban went into effect, they have issued no citations to a motorist texting behind the wheel. Officers worry that enforcement will be a challenge due to the very limited nature of the law, which only targets texting specifically.  Other cellphone uses are still allowed.  Still, the City Council hopes that just by having the law in place, people will refrain from the habit.
