Grant Allows Atlantic Highlands Police to Improve Pedestrian Safety

Posted on October 8, 2012

A grant has been issued to New Jersey’s Atlantic Highlands Police by the state’s Division of Highway Traffic Safety so that the community can improve pedestrian safety in the area.  The nearly $14,000 grant will allow officers to stake out intersections in plain clothes so that they can catch motor vehicle operators who fail to give the right of way to pedestrians.  Citations worth $200 will be handed out to the most serious violators, while all others will be educated on the law.
