AMTA Says Fatalities Caused by Distracted Driving Are Overestimated

The Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association has reported that they have found evidence that runs contrary to a news release that stated around 33% of Queensland’s fatal automobile collisions were caused by distracted cellphone driving.  They say the actual reported number was much lower at .7% of deaths. The AMTA wants to let people know that they support efforts attempting to end distracted driving, but they also want to ensure that the news is being reported accurately.
