6,200 Hoodie & T-Shirt Sets Recalled Over Potential Lead Violation

Posted on October 17, 2012

A children’s clothing item is being recalled because a certain component may fail to meet federal lead standards.

The recall was announced by the New York, New York-based Children’s Apparel Network and affects 6,200 hoodie and t-shirt sets.  A variety of sizes of the fleece clothing are included within the recall, and the sets come in either blue, grey, or red.  The label will contain the code RN 16435, and each set will feature either Snow White (red), Mickey Mouse (grey), or Lightning McQueen (blue).

These hoodies reportedly feature a zipper that fails to conform to minimum lead levels set forth by the federal government.  These heightened lead levels contained within the zipper could lead to an illness being incurred by the child wearing the hoodie.  No one has reportedly suffered from an illness or injury at this moment in time.

These clothing items were available for sale in Target stores across the country as well as through their online outlet.  The clothing cost $18 and could only be purchased in 2011 between October and December.  Anyone whose child has this product in their possession should take the clothing away.  The sets can then be brought back to the nearest Target, at which point a refund will be issued.  Additional questions should be directed toward Children’s Apparel Network.
