A texting while driving simulation was brought to Irondequoit High School in New York so that local teens could get a sense of just how dangerous the practice of texting behind the wheel is. A state assemblyman was able to get the event set up by corresponding with an agent from Nationwide Insurance. Although not every student that took part in the event collided with something, the recklessness exhibited was enough in almost every case to get the person pulled over in the real world. Members of the school’s staff believe that fellow teens are most effective at enforcing good behavior, so they were glad to see participants correcting each other’s errors.
