The improper heat treatment of the tow hooks has led to the recall of 279 International ProStar commercial trucks of the 2013 model year. Navistar announced the recall, which affects those vehicles that contain 01570 as a feature code on the tow hooks. The tow hooks could be weakened due to the inadequate heat treatment, and if these trucks are towing a vehicle, that towed vehicle could separate without warning. This would obviously lead to a potential crash risk that endangers other vehicles in the vicinity. Free replacement tow hooks will be offered by dealers once Navistar makes contact with owners. That contact should take place by December 17.
