Mislabeling Leads to Recall of Ma Baensch Marinated Herring

Posted on October 9, 2012

Ma Baensch Marinated Herring in Wine Sauce available from retailers in Rockford, Illinois and throughout Wisconsin is being recalled by the Milwaukee-based Baensch Food Products.  Versions of the item that come in a 24 ounce glass jar and that are to be used by November 6 may contain sour cream instead of wine sauce, and thus the item could have milk without the label stating as much.  Persons allergic to dairy would thus be placed in danger upon consumption.  The item can be exchanged or customers can get their money back.
