Devices in Fort Worth Squad Cars Limit Computer Usage at High Speeds

Posted on September 7, 2012

In 2010, about 75% of police cars contained an on-board computer.  Now, a new device has been installed in the police vehicles in Fort Wayne, Indiana to prevent use of their in-car computers at certain speeds. The device will shut off the keyboard and touch-screen once the vehicle exceeds 15 miles per hour. A similar system was in place back in the 80s in FedEx vehicles.
