In Ottawa, car insurance company Allstate conducted a survey to see how many distracted drivers they could spot along a single intersection in an hour. The result was 91 drivers who were eating, drinking, looking at passengers, or even worse, texting. Police say that this is a recurring problem and that many people just don’t comprehend how dangerous distractions can be. With 80% of crashes stemming from a distraction behind the wheel, police are trying to tell the public that paying attention really does matter.
