6,146 Ford Escapes Recalled Due To Leaking Coolant Fire Hazard

Posted on September 14, 2012

Ford has issued a recall on 6,146 Ford Escape vehicles of the 2013 model year that were made between October 5, 2011 and August 31 of this year.  Each affected vehicle has a 1.6L engine. There is a malfunction with the cylinder head cup plug that might create leaking coolant, which could then lead to an engine fire. As of Monday, Ford began notifying affected owners so that they could bring their vehicles into a dealer to obtain free repairs.
