Lubbock, Texas Pursues a Ban On Texting Behind the Wheel

Texting and driving was the cause of 100,000 automobile crashes in 2011 throughout the country. The state of Texas has been trying to pass a law banning texting while driving, but the bills have all gotten vetoed by the governor. Because of this, Lubbock is attempting to pass their own ban at the local level. It is estimated that texting behind the wheel makes a person 23 times more likely to crash. AT&T has lately been discouraging texting while driving via a nationwide campaign.
