Volvo Optimistic About Initial Findings of SARTRE Research

Posted on September 19, 2012

In Spain, the results of the autonomous car study SARTRE (SAfe Road Trains for the Environment) are in, and officials are optimistic about the findings. While the study does not involve truly autonomous vehicles, Volvo says the idea is that one car that is driven as normal becomes a lead car, and then other automobiles can be added that will automatically follow the same path, making a train of sorts. The technology is a long way from being perfected, but officials think these initial tests are a good start.
