Ricotta Salata Sold in 21 States Recalled by Whole Foods

Posted on September 17, 2012

Whole Foods Market has announced the recall of Ricotta Salata available in 21 states (including right here in California) and Washington D.C. due to a potential health risk posed to consumers. The Ricotta Salata Frescolina produced by the New York-based Forever Cheese has shown evidence of being contaminated by Listeria monocytogenes. This is an organism that can cause potentially lethal infections in children and older persons. Purchasers are being advised to bring the items back for a refund.
