Without Florida Texting Ban, Employers Take Matters Into Own Hands

The state of Florida has yet to ban texting while driving, but that has not deterred local businesses from asserting their own efforts to curb distracted driving among their employees. Some companies go by an honor system or have established discounts, while others like the Miami-based Ryder System have actually begun to track their employees through cameras in company vehicles. Currently, plans are in place by one Florida senator to introduce a new bill banning texting while driving, with a $30 fine being imposed on violators.
