Distracted Drivers in Chatham, New Jersey Targeted by Local Police

The police department of Chatham, New Jersey has been cracking down on the use of cellphones by drivers in crosswalk areas. Last Wednesday, 30 people were given warnings and 29 were given tickets for some type of crosswalk violation. 17 of those citations were for cellphone usage.  The fine for using a cellphone is $130, while there is a $230 fine in place for the failure to yield to a pedestrian.
