Many states and cities are jumping on the bandwagon to ban texting while driving. With Ohio enacting its own ban recently, it joined 38 other states that have some sort of law in place. Only six states don’t have any sort of ban. South Dakota is one of those states without a ban, but one lawmaker stresses how his state emphasizes individual rights, thus potentially leading to the delay. He said that expansion of government authority has to be balanced with a need for public safety.
