Silver City, New Mexico has passed a ban on texting and driving. The new law comes on the heels of a local pedestrian accident that allegedly resulted from a teenage driver texting. Last month, a broader version of the bill was introduced that would have banned all cellphone usage behind the wheel. However, that version was later amended to only pertain to texting or dialing a phone number.
