First Ever Texting Sting in Fargo, North Dakota Proves Successful

Posted on August 10, 2012

Police in Fargo, North Dakota conducted their first texting while driving sting since laws banning texting and driving were put into place about one year prior. The sting was funded by a government grant. One of the officers sat at an intersection in an ordinary looking city vehicle on one day and a pool on another and watched for drivers who appeared to be texting. The officer would then call ahead to cops stationed up the road who would pull the cars over when they came. The police gave out 17 $100 citations.
