FDA and USDA Offer Food Safety Booklets to At-Risk Demographics

Posted on August 2, 2012

Foodborne illness is a very real threat, especially to certain sections of the population, which is why the Food and Drug Administration and the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service have unveiled six booklets designed to educate at-risk demographics on food safety.  The booklets targets such imperiled persons as pregnant women, recipients of transplants, the elderly,  and persons with cancer, HIV, or diabetes.  Each 24-page booklet is composed of charts, grocery shopping and cooking tips, and general information.  The booklets can be obtained from a physician or as a PDF on the government’s Food Safety website.
