A new study by the Centers for Disease Control shows what many people have likely suspected: states with universal helmet laws have increased helmet use, and that increased helmet prevalence in turn increases safety. Not all states have such laws though, usually because citizens worry that the government is interfering with their lives. But in addition to preventing injury, wearing helmets can also reduce medical bill costs. States also save money when citizens wear helmets.
